November time

Dear yogis!

We continue to practice together with the darkness outside the windows. Great to see so many people sharing the Sunday evening with us.

Just a reminder that this week on Sunday the16th there will be no class at Kulturhuset. We will be returning to teach at Lila shala (where we taught during Almedalsveckan) for Gotland Pride.

In november we're working the openings, with all what that means. Probably some backbendning! As usual we'll be working with the breath and try out retention (holding the breath) a little bit. But don't overdo it ;)




See you all next weekend, Sunday the 23rd, or maybe some of you in Visy!

Focus of the month.

Welcoming October and preparing ourselves for the cold and the dark season.

KEEP CALM AND COME TO PRACTICE YOGA !

WELCOME BACK!

We will have different themes every month that we will work with during the term. 

Let´s start September and welcoming it with FOUNDATIONS, in the asana practice and in the pranayama (breath). 
Foundations works perfectly both for beginners (a great start!) and for advanced practitioners (a great way to come back to the roots for deepen the practice).
We all need basics to stay connected into the very center of ourselves.

So warmly welcome to the first class of the term next SUNDAY 14TH OF SEPTEMBER FROM 6pm IN B-SAL, SKARPNÄCKS KULTURHUSET.

Schedule of June + Pic Nic !!!

That day 15th of June,right after the class (so around 19.15).
To celebrate the ending of this first term together and the summer
we will have a picnic behind Kulturhuset on the grass all together!

We are planning some classes in the park for August and we have already the space back in the Skarpnäck's Kulturhus for September.

Breathing exercise of April: Nadi Sodana Pranayama

Nadi sodana paranayama is an altarnate nostril breathing technique. You sit in a comfortable positions with your spine straight. Let your left hand rest and use your right hand thumb and ring finger to open and close your left and right nostril. Do you remember it? If you have any questions we can discuss them and class and we will go through it more times. Now that we have practiced and experienced this pranayama in class we will give you some more information about it.

"Nadi is tubular organ of the body like an artery or a vein for the passage of pranayama or energy. A nadi has three layers like an insulated electric wire. The inner most layer is called sira, the middle layer damani, and the entire organ as well as the outer layer is called nadi.
Sodana pranayama is the purification of the nerves. A little obstruction in the nerves can cause great discomfort and paralyze a limp or organ.

Effect: The blood receives a larger supply of oxygen in nadi sodana than in normal breathing, so that one feels refreshed and the nerves are calmed and purified.
The mind becomes still and lucid.

Note: In the beginning perspires and shakes, while the thigh and arm muscles become tense. Such tension should be avoided."

If you are coming to Gotland during the Almedalen (29/6-6/6) week we will be there. Having yoga classes at Lila Shala, located at Södertorg 17 right inside of Söderport. Many thanks to Mariancila that invited us, we are looking very much forward to this week!
