New Restrictions and how they affects us.

 Hi Everyone,
with the new restrictions, we will have to move the time to 18.15 to allow the previous course to finish and to open the windows before our class. So we will start at 18.15 and finish at 19.30.
Secondly, I ask everyone to book your spot, write an email the day before the class at least and cancel if you cannot come.
Update me if you get a positive covid test the days after the class so I can email everyone else that was at the class with you.
Further, we can only have 6 people in the room, so 5 participants plus me. It feels very little group but cozy anyway. So extra important that you book or cancel your place to give the possibility to others who want to come but could not book it on time.
Last but not least, remember that the class survives on donations so please take with you an exchange if you want to keep practicing together.

I guess is obvious by now, but I repeat, stay home if you feel sick and wash your hands. ;-)

Those times make me think so much of interbeing and interdependence. Of this thread that connects us all, humans and non-humans.

Take care and see you soon.

Warmly,
Giulia

" New Year , New Life " They say..

We meet anyway in the same place at the same time (Sal B, Sundays 18.00-19.15) for a new year together practicing.

For whatever reason, we come back to the mat , over and over again..

...What is your reason?

New dates are here:

January 23rd

February 6th and 20th

March 6th and 20th

April 3rd and 17th

May 8th and 22nd

As we have done until now, you need to book your spot every time or just let me know in advance which classes you aim to attend. We continue to do it, in order for me to reach you easier in case the class is canceled for sickness or in case other information needs to be spread quickly for the participants of the classes.

Please stay home if you have the minimum symptom.

Take care of yourself and others.

May you all have a smooth transition into the new year.

See you soon.

Warmly,

Ortensyoga

11th and 18th of April
2nd, 16th and 30th of May

Due to current restrictions we can be a maximum of 8 persons in the room.
  • To make sure you get a spot on time you must book via our email ortensyoga@gmail.com at least two hours before. See you next Sunday the 7th!

Meanwhile take care of yourself and others.

May the sun shines upon your face.

Thursday, 19 November 2020

Hi dear friends and yogis .

I am sadly writing to say that next sunday 22nd will be the last class for the year

The Kulturhuset is closing all the activities now with the new restrictions, and so we also feel is important to have a common strategy in this new time where we face the pandemic´s second wave.

We will start again the classes in the beginning of February.

In the meanwhile,  stay safe, take care of your community, be present with what arises and enjoy nature.

If you need some sort of guidance to keep up with the practice, do not hesitate to reach out.

See you on Sunday!

Here a quote by Pema Chödrön, from her book Living Beautifully: with Uncertainty and Change :

“It’s not impermanence per se, or even knowing we’re going to die, that is the cause of our suffering, the Buddha taught. Rather, it’s our resistance to the fundamental uncertainty of our situation. Our discomfort arises from all of our efforts to put ground under our feet, to realize our dream of constant okayness. When we resist change, it’s called suffering. But when we can completely let go and not struggle against it, when we can embrace the groundlessness of our situation and relax into its dynamic quality, that’s called enlightenment, or awakening to our true nature, to our fundamental goodness. Another word for that is freedom—freedom from struggling against the fundamental ambiguity of being human.”

Hi dear practitioners and friends,

with the times that we are facing we decided to not have classes for march and april

Not to feed the seed of fear but to collectively acknowledge that feeling, and support each other, and care for each other by being safe, by taking care of ourselves and by practicing solidarity.
The unknown, the change, could be frightening at the beginning.
But by embracing the fact that both inside and in the collective there is fear, we can actively decide to water the seeds of hope, patience and compassion as an antidote.

Take this time now to slow down, to stop, to not consume.
There is suddenly a window of time open to re-think the way we live,  re-program our minds, re-set our focus, re-generate communities, re-discuss our priorities, re-listen to the need of the earth, re-design rituals,re-create noble silence and honest speech, re-face our restlessness and boredom, re-write the narrative we have around life and death, re-nourish what we have let dry, re-claim the present moment as a state of mind, re-establish love as a basic principle to start whatever we do.

Perhaps you could take this opportunity to sit more often, move your body how you feel is right and empowering, maybe it looks like a sun salutation maybe not at all. Breath deeply, slowly and consciously. Feel the impermanence of the breath, of your emotions, of the situation.

Take time to be in nature, with nature, to contemplate nature or just to be nature
She gives us back a great perspective. Birds singing, branches sprouting, and her vastness, her aliveness. Her strength.
In the same moment we can wake up to the inter-being, the way we inter-are.

Take time to acknowledge all we already have, like our breath, our eyes, our ears and much more, we are alive

We wish you all a time of great insight.

With resilience and warmth,

Ortensyoga.

We are mainly taking care of our families but if you wish to talk please write to us.

Last class of the year!

Hi Friends of Ortensyoga,
We will have the last class of the year on Sunday 22nd of December!
After that will come the schedule for 2020.
The first class will be on Sunday 19th of January same time, same place.

Next Sunday for the last class we will have a little longer time after the Asana/movent practice, so we can sit in meditation for 15/20 minutes. Class ends then 19.30.
It will be a special time to gather around this holiday season, sometimes full of joy , sometimes full of anxiety. To both celebrate and get challenged. I am sure you know what I am talking about..
We will also sit to counter act this time of over consuming.

More presence, less presents.

Warmly,

Ortensyoga

Last Class and Community Sunday 20th of May

Wake up the little monk or nun  within you!

Hi dear Community,
we are about to end the season of practice together, for a long summer break. Therefore we want to celebrate with you this wonderful summer that is opening all the senses.
We will meet for the last class and the Community Sunday on May 20th. We will gather indoor at 18 as usual for the movement/yoga and later we will practice walking meditation in the forest continuing with a sitting on the rocks in a nice spot between the trees, ending with sharing time.
As we said during previous practice time, walking meditation might feel like waking up the little monk/nun within you, let yourself experience the walking into nature.
If is not pouring rain we will be outdoor most of the session so be aware of what you need to bring.
Barefoot or comfortable shoes is your choice ;-) ,
something to sit on would be nice as well as a tea or some snack to share with others at the end.

We will send more info about the next start of classes at the end of august and how the schedule will look like in the autumn.
But for now let´s just enjoy that sun and warmth together!

Bowing to you all,

Giulia and Ida

Sliding scale pricing, what to consider before paying the spring retreat

As we announced in our last post we're soon hosting a retreat at Hellasgården.
We've decided to not have a fixed price but instead a sliding scale pricing (for this retreat it is 1300-2300:-) and here we offer an explanation for how we think of it.

So this is the wiki-definition:

”Sliding scale fees are variable prices for products, services, or taxes based on a customer's ability to pay. Such fees are thereby reduced for those who have lower incomes, or alternatively, less money to spare after their personal expenses, regardless of income.”

For this retreat it means that if you have little or no money to spare you pay 1300:- this is the cost for food, board and renting of the space. We’re not making a profit from this price, but rather it's a community service.

If you have a monthly salary and are able to save some money and take a holiday you can probably pay 1800:- this pays the cost of the retreat and our salaries.

If you have a monthly salary, are able to spend and save some money and comfortable can pay 2300:- you are paying for the retreat, our salaries and supporting someone with a tighter budget so that we get payed for our work.
but not just that..

..Consider this :
Dana (generosity) Practice
"In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are given freely because they are considered priceless; in the Buddhist tradition we also practice dana, or generosity, by making monetary offerings for the teachings. Dana is not payment for goods or services rendered; it is given from the heart. Your generosity is a gift that supports not just the teachers, but also the Sangha, the larger Dharma community, and your own practice."

On the same note, nobody is left out for lack of funds. If you find yourself in that situation, please contact us.

Thank you very much .
